Is my radiator plugged or other?
Car: 2001 Subaru Outback VDC H6 6cyl.
Miles:235,000, yes 235,000 every day use.
Had a left upper radiator hose replaced because of small hole. Added coolant, topped off but did not purge. Week later car starts to show sign of overheating, added coolant again, OK for a week, now coolant fills up in overflow tank, Add more coolant. It is OK for now but smell coolant but may be from spilling some.
What I checked:
No leaks anywhere
No coolant in oil
No coolant in tail pipe or white smoke
No coolant in air box or stress in filter
No puddles inside car
No problem with back up fan.
Seems to do it with or without heater system in play
P.S. water pump is cam driven on this engine
forgot to check the thermostat, it might need to be replaced.
