Automatic 2003 Subaru Outback sometimes has low idle and stalls. What is causing this issue?
I have a 2003 Subaru Outback 3.0L 6cyl automatic that has been stalling on and off since I bought it from the dealership 7 years ago. When this problem occurs the engine’s resting RPMs are much lower than normal and the stalling only happens when stopping or stopped. Sometimes the car stalls several times a week, and sometimes I don’t notice an issue for months. I have taken the car in numerous times but they were never able to recreate the problem. What can be causing my car to stall and how do I fix it?
Go to the junk yard or find a friend w/ a subie & swap the mass air sensor. They’re typically the 1st thing to go wrong so it’s a good place to start.
