Are 2010 Subaru Impreza Outback Sports any good?
I am considering buying a Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. Do any of you know if these are good quality, long lasting, easy to maintain cars? Any car I get now, I will hope to have for the next 10 years. I only drive 7 to 8 thousand miles a year. My other considerations are the Toyota Rav4 & the Honda CRV. I know they are in a different class, but I just want to get something that will hold cargo get descent mileage and last a long time. I would consider the forester, but it still looks like a family wagon to me. The CRV looks a little less soccer mom-esc. Thanks.
Subarus are the best street vehicles for snow and ice driving on the planet. They easily out perform larger heavier four wheel drive SUVs and even the much pricier Audi Quattro automobiles. I both bought — and sold — a Mitsubishi Montero during the time I’ve owned my older Outback. I sold it in part because it was so much worse in the snow than the Outback.
I currently have a 1997 Outback wagon with 138,000 miles on the odometer and a 2008 Outback wagon with 40,000 miles. I bought both new. The 1997 runs as well as when it was new, and almost looks as good. Excluding regular maintenance and wear items like tires, I have spent about $1,000 on minor repairs over all these years on the car.
My wife drives the 2008 Outback all over the state for her work. So far, its shop time has involved only scheduled maintenance.
We owned am Impreza before we bought the older Outback. It was a great car, with seemingly more room inside than possible, given its exterior dimensions. It was even better in snow than the Outbacks.
