Subaru 4 cylinder engine….Mechanics and Owners Please Help?
I have a 2010 Subaru Outback with the 2.5 cylinder engine. When it is near freezing, it seems like it takes a few more times to turn over than any other vehicles that I have driven. I have only driven 6 and 8 cylinder vehicles before. I was wondering if this was normal or if I should have it looked at. Also, when it turns over, and starts to start, it sounds like it almost dies and then come roaring to life. There has only been one time that it did not recover from this and I had to start it which took, again, more than normal in my opinion. Please list any ideas or solutions that you have! Also, the temperature is around freezing or a little below here. When be bought it, they said it started right up, again, don’t know if my “problems are typical”. It has 600 miles on it. Thanks!
Your engine isn’t broken in yet. Clearances are still tight and it takes a bit more effort to turn it over. This is especially noticeable after the car has been sitting in the cold for several hours, or overnight. Give it a chance for all the parts to wear in and then see what it’s like after you have several thousand miles on it.
