I own a ’09 Subaru Forester XT. What is the torque distribution for the auto transmission?
There are conflicting information found online. Most assume its 90/10 while they are some who maintain its at 60/40 until slip occurs, then the system will change to 50/50.
The correct figure is dependent on the type of transmission as the 2 transmissions handle the distribution differently. As a rule, the manual will give you a 50/50 split all the time where the automatic wants to get you into a 90/10 split as soon as possible. In practice, there is no difference between the systems. Under extreme conditions, the manual system is better until you have to shift.
