Negotiating a Certified Used Car in Canada?
I am currently negotiating a used Subaru in Canada. I know for a fact that the dealer paid $18,600 for the car at auction. What would be typical auction fees that the dealer had to pay? $400? This would then make the car $19,000. The asking price is $22995. However the car is certified giving me a 20,000km/1year bumper to bumper warranty. The dealer also has to add new tires (which he claims can be used to at least 50% tread), and it needs new brakes. With that said, what do you think would be a fair price to pay, for both me and so the dealer maintains a profit as well. Is $21,500 a fair price for a certified car? The car currently is a 2005 with 35,000kms.
The auction fee is around $225 you then have to have it transported to his dealership depending on how far say $400. That price seems high for a 4 year old subaru.
