Subaru Impreza RS Head Gasket?
I know that the 2.5L engine headgaskets were pretty weak for 98-2001 models and there is a good chance of them blowing around 100k. Im looking at a privately owned 01 RS right now and it looks really good. No leaks, no nothing, and regularly check and oil changed by the dealership. If the head gasket hasnt blown by now (83k). Is it a pretty safe buy? Should I expect to pay over $9k for the RS. (Currently in good condition)?
That’s pretty high a price for that many miles. I frequent RS25.com and see great looking cars with less miles for 7 to 8 thousand. I would not pay more than 6500 for it. As far as the head gasket goes, You just never know. The present owner may be really easy on the car and the first time you give it a little gas it may blow. The good thing is the head gasket is only like 800 bucks to have done for both sides.
