Why are people so quick to call Japanese cars “unamerican”, “jap-crap” and other misc racial slurs?

This question obviously applies to Americans only…..which I am…

When will people respect all cars for what they are and not be so quick to pull the “UnAmerican” or “Race Card”? Would they be so quick to badmouth a car if it were made in Europe? I’m weary of reading questions on Answers and see how much ignorant hate their is. Why is there so much hate towards imports, or should I just say Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, and etc. Why are import vehicles branded “Rice Burners”? Once again, what if they were European? All cars have different strengths and weaknesses, so why so much hate?

Jealousy for reliability I guess. Majority of Japanese cars are reliable, like Toyota and Honda. They’re virtually as reliable as the sun will keep on going. I had a chance to own a Ford several years back, and it was a disaster no matter how tedious I was on maintenance. It was good for a couple of years, but then the true meaning of Ford came out: Fix Or Repair Daily. Japanese cars were the first to prove that cars can be reliable. And after several years, American cars still can’t figure out how the Japanese have done it. As for being “Rice Burners,” or “Rice Rockets” to be exact, that is because entry-level Japanese cars (like the Civic) “can” be customized to become Porsche killers through aftermarket parts and still keep their reliability for several years. Although having said that, they’re still a few lemon Japanese cars out there. I find the old American muscle cars of the 70s better than the new ones today. The new ones seem to have a more platic interior feel for some reason that you don’t really feel in a cheap Japanese car. But the point is, if they don’t like it, then they shouldn’t get it. Perhaps they hate the sales?
