Is buying a dealer service loaner a good idea?
I need to get a new car soon. I have narrowed it down to 3 models. One of which I currently own. My next car will be either a Honda CRV, Mitsubishi Outlander or a Subaru Forester ( which I current own 1999). With the options I want on the models they all are about $22k-$23k MSRP. The local Subaru dealer currently has a 2009 Forester with 6,734 miles on it that was their service loaner car for sale for around $18k- which is $4k-5k less than a brand new one. Is it worth it? I tried doing a Kelly Blue Book on it but they do not have used prices for 2009 Subarus. Edmunds lists it as $21k for Dealer retail.
Has any one bought a dealer service loaner? I would think it would be better than a regular used car- correct?
I work at a car dealership and that is the best deal that you can get is a loaner. The warrenty will start over from the purchase mileage, its like you are starting from 0 miles at a huge discount. And yes you can negotiate that price down to. They will not move to much, but they will help you on the price if you are really interested.
