I have a 2009 Subaru Forester purchased new with only 3 miles on it.?
The engine is very noisy when I first start it up. It sounds like a diesel until the engine warms up and then it quiets down. I asked a mechanic where I purchased the car and he said the noise was because the engine is new and tight. I had the oil changed at 3,000 miles. The car now has 5,000 miles and is still noisy when I first start it up. If it is because the engine is tight how long before it breaks in and my brand new car will sound like one instead of a rattle trap. Any opinions out there?
Victa : Yes it is a PZEV model. Thanks for the tip.
Is your Forester by any chance a PZEV? The PZEV foresters are a little louder when it starts due to the engine forwarding the timing in order to heat the Catalytics up quicker.
hope this helps.
