my 1992 subaru SVX gas guage says empty but I think its full how do I fix it?
I just bought the car recently, and one day I saw that it said empty! So I put about 30 dollars worth of gas in her, and she said full.Yippie! But not too far later the next day it said it was only half way full so I put about 7 dollars and it said full. Today it said empty then half way empty then empty again so I put another 7 dollars in it and now it says full!!! This is driving me crazy! What can I do to stop this? And the reason I only put 7 dollars in is because I am now paying for gas with a credit card and for some reason it stops pumping at 7 dollars why is that? Does the machine automatically stop pumping after 7 dollars on a credit card? Or does it stop automatically when it gets full?
I would have to say that it is the fuel sending unit. The sending unit is sending a faulse reading to the gauge. So when it is saying it’s empty it might only be down a quarter of a tank.
When you use a credit card it stops when it is full.
