Ford Edge Gas Mileage?
I’m considering a Ford Edge 2WD as a replacement for my 2006 Subaru Legacy wagon. The AWD ‘Ru gets real life 19/26mpg in my driving which is 75% “in town” and 25% “highway”. Can I come close to this with the Edge? I really do like a station wagon type vehicle for carrying stuff. Our other car is a new Hyundai Elantra so I’m willing to give 1-2 mpg around town. I don’t really need AWD. Again, I want REAL life MPG, not the EPA’s bogus numbers. Thanks.
The Edge gets worse fuel mileage then the Subaru and is not as reliable or good on resale value…so why do you want to change? If you want an SUV with really good fuel economy get the the Ford Escape Hybrid which will get you about 32 mpg city and 30 hwy. That will save you $700 a year on gas at $2 per gallon if you drive 15,000 miles a year. The Mazda Tribute is an Escape clone, both are #1 in fuel economy for SUV category and top 10 for all vehicles sold in USA.
