Is it worth getting a head gasket repaired on a 1998 SUBARU Forester if so how much should it cost?
I’m deciding if I should buy a 1998 Subaru Forester (with 110,000 mi). The seller want to sell it for $2000. This car was sideswiped (driver side) and needs body work. Windows still roll up and door close and locks. I got the estimate for repair is about $500. The seller mentioned that she had an overheating problem. All parts of the cooling system had been replaced including the radiator. My friend told me that it might need head gaskets replaced soon for the Subarus at this mileage. Is it worth getting a head gasket repaired? Will the car run and drive better and no more overheating problem ? Thank you.
STAY AWAY FROM IT…
You can find plenty of higher mileage cars for that price… without major body damage… and without head gasket issue!
