I’m getting a 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX sedan?
And I’m going to want to put the Perrin dual cat-back exhaust, downpipe, and up-pipe. Approx. how much more horsepower will it add to the car? Also, will I need to get the car professionally tuned after installing all of this?
Wow people say things with such certainty even when they are so wrong. Do not listen to the guy above. You absolutely need tuning when installing an aftermarket down pipe. There will be some serious boost creep and could potentially damage your engine without it. And there were 3 cats in the old 2 liter models but not any more. Your up pipe will be catless already so changing that will make no difference until you upgrade to a larger turbo. Just installing these things might give you 10 to 15 horsepower till it blows up. With tuning, you can potentially gain 30 to 50 horsepower depending on what type of gas you get and how it’s measured. You don’t need it professionally tuned. You can just flash it with a generic map for your mods using either an Access Port from Cobb or with a laptop and a Tactrix cable, you can download Romraider and use that. This will leave a little power on the table since they are tunes that are very very conservative. A pro tune on a Dyno will get the most out of the set up. Read up on http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/ for everything you need to know about the WRX before you do something wrong. Also look for a good tuner in your area that you can go to for advice along the way.
