In general subaru swaps arn’t too bad. Mechanically they bolt right up. Usually the electrical work is the only hard part. The electrical work scared me enough that I’m having mine professionally done.
Yes, you should end up with a very reliable car.
For non mechanics I think the estimate is between 80 and 160 hours of work depending on your skills. Before starting make sure you have complete wiring diagrams for both cars.
There are lots of good resources out there. Go to www.nasioc.com and look at the swap forum. There are lots of smart guys telling their swap stories. For the most part they work out very well!!!
