VW vr6 mod help please?
I am getting a vr6 mk4 soon. I just recently wanted a subaru 2.5 rs and realised turboing that engine will make it very unrealiable and that the vr6 would handle a turbo much better. but the turbo is the last thing i want to install on my vr6
i am not sure if the parts i had in mind for the subaru would also go over to the vr6, here are my ideas for the vr6, tell me if i am wrong…
exhaust system
cold air intake
catalatic converter
underdrive pully
spark plugs
headers
fuel pump
fuel injectors
coolant fittings
clutch
catchcan
flywheel
short shifter
and i want to Chip it
battery
air flow converter
so on a 12v vr6 how much hp with those mods?
24v?
any other ideas for mods?
now i maybe wrong with some of those parts, i am kinda new with cars…
There are a few things you don’t really need on that list unless you intent to modify a fair bit further. Exhaust is worthwhile, as is a cold air intake, ECU and decent spark plugs. However, avoid everything else as you won’t see much performance gain and they could actually reduce the reliability of your car. Expect about 240hp (flywheel) from a 24v. Have you considered a set of Schrick cams? Ported and polished heads?
