What does 5ST-E, 5ST-M, Base-E, and Base-M mean in dealer inventories when describing Subaru B9 Tribecas?
Bare with me as this may get long and complex. 5 stands for how many gears are in the transmission(1-5 for example). The “S” is for the speed, such as five “speed”. The “T” is for the transmission. The “E” refers to the dual-range of the tranny. The “M” is for the no-dual-range tranny. The word “Base” means the tranny is stock, no frills, no chills. Such as a turbo charger sensor adapter.
