Toyota Sienna (2011): does interior lock button set the alarm? Can it be configured to beep that alarm is set?
I am the new owner of 2011 Sienna XLE with Nav pkg (keyless entry, etc, etc.)
So far I love it but I have one nit….. On my 2003 Subaru Forester when I am exiting the vehicle, and I press the interior power lock button (door is open at this time), all the locks actuate (to locked position). This is the same with the Sienna. But on the Subaru when I close the door it gives me an audible beep/flash to let me know the alarm is set. The Sienna does not do this.
•Is the alarm set on the Sienna when I lock it in this fashion?
•Is there a way to change the programming so I get an audible confirmation like on the Subaru
I already know about how to lock it from the outside by “pinching” the driver door handle sensors…and I that way I *do* get the audible confirmation, but I would like to get the same using the interior power lock method.
There is a way to solve both your problems.
Use the Keyless entry. It locks the doors and sets the alarm.
Why are you locking the doors from the inside before closing the door if you have Keyless entry? That’s the whole point of the remote.
To be honest I don’t think that just locking the doors, sets the alarm. I’m pretty sure that you have to activate it with the Remote. Otherwise if you were to lock the doors while you were in it (key not in the ignition) it might go off.
