If I remove my spoiler will the glue used for a spoiler damage my paint?
I finally was able to find a genuine factory Subaru spoiler that will fit my WRX. Since my aftermarket spoiler sits higher, I noticed that a small section of my trunk will be exposed once they install the OEM spoiler.
I see that my spoiler was installed using a gooey, greyish glue with the consistency of bubblegum. Should I worry about this glue ruining my original trunk, or should this glue be easy to remove? I am not worried about exposed drill holes, because the aftermarket spoiler (and the OEM one that is being installed) use the original hole locations.

If it is the consistency of gum i wouldn’t worry too much, just buy and adhesive remover that is safe for automotive paint your local parts store should have something. You could also just do a little section to see what if anything it will do to the paint. Most likely if anything happens you can buff it out and give it a good wax.
