how about a subaru? what performance parts will gain me hp and torque? specifically a 2002 wrx
They key to extracting power out of your car is tuning. Since you have an 02, you can bolt on quite a bit of parts like an intake, turbo back exhaust and even a manual boost controller set to about 15lbs max. But all that will only give you about 15 to 20hp. All that and a custom tune will wive a good 40 hp and maybe around the same torque. A good tuner will also decrease spool up and smooth out the power delivery. Down side is cost. You need some kind of engine management and pay for th tune but It’s worth it if you truly are after noticeable power gains. If I were you, find a good shop local to you with a reputable Subaru tuner and have a chat with him. Look through your regional section of NASIOC.com and you should be able to find someone near by. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5 In the mean time maybe get some suspension mods out of the way.
