Are Ford and GM embarrassed that subaru builds better sports cars?
I mean look at a STi compared to a GTO or Mustang. You ahve gotta laugh. And with all the 700 and 800 HP modded STis running around, GM adn Ford really have to be considering closing up shop.
I own a Cobra and my BF owns a Vette. I have raced and driven a few Evos and STis. My Cobra makes good power, but it’s heavy and handles like a brick. The big difference is that a 10 second EVO or STi will runs 10s at the track and 10s on the street. A GTO or Mustang that runs 10s at the track is lucky to run mid 12s on the street.
At least the mustangs have overhead cams. GM is still designed engines from the 50s. 50 horsepower / liter is their average and everyone goes gaga when they manage to pull 70 hp/liter. Not even on par with a toyota camry.
The STis and Evo handle way better too. Their chassis are so much stiffer than even a Z06 corvette. It’s pretty digusting to compare an STi or Evo to a stang or GTO.
Evos and STis also make great daily drivers. That’s pretty cool to have a 10 second car that gets 25 MPG, handles like a little race car, that you can passengers in, drive to the grocery store in the snow and load up the groceries.
So in short, yes GM and Ford should be ashamed. After driving the Evo I really feel like I was sold a bill of goods when I bought my Cobra.
