1988 subaru dl wagon gas cutting out?
it’s an early fuel injection subaru, gas cuts out in the first three gears after the car warms up. the check engine light does not come on so i don’t think it’s the oxygen sensor. i have changed the air filter, fuel filter and cleaned the throttle body, i have also tried fuel injector cleaners in the gas mix. any other ideas?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Sounds like you fuel pump is going out. It has an electric fuel pump (all fuel injected engines have them) and 21 years is a pretty long time for the original fuel pump to last, but I’d say that , it sounds like your pump is finally giving up.
you didn’t say anything about smelling gas so it’s gotta be the pump.
