Why are there so few Subaru dealerships in the deep south?
I live in Louisiana and there are 3 dealerships in the WHOLE STATE. I was wondering why this was. I really want a Subaru for a first car, but the closest dealer is over two hours away from me. Why are there 8+ dealerships in VERMONT???? All the other states have 7+ dealerships.
To some extent, I figure it’s got to be supply and demand.
Subarus are all-wheel drive vehicles, and as such, they handle snow and wintry road conditions better than most cars. Thus, there would be a much higher demand for them in the “snow belt” states.
I’ve always wondered why Subaru doesn’t invest more in dealerships down here, too. I like them better than most Japanese cars, to be honest, and I think in times like this they represent a good compromise between car fuel efficiency and SUV all-weather capability. I think a lot more people in the South would start catching on if they were more available.
