Audi A4 2006 certified used vs. new subaru?
I need an AWD car. i was thinking about A4 certified used…but i heard that a4 residual value is awful…(i.e. it goes to like $5,000 after 50,000 miles…) is this true? i did research on kbb.com and it says its not…
this is what i heard:
1.A4 has a turbo charge engine, which needs to be replaced around 50,000 miles and this costs couple thousands
2. if i were to buy a 2006 A4 and i want to sell it in 4 years, it would be 6 years old and according to my friend who had an A4 says it will be worth less than the $24,000 new impreza or legacy(i.e. 2008)
if I know that it can hold its value..(at least be worth as much as a 2008 subaru) then i would spend my $25,000 on the used 2006 A4…

Looking at JD Power quality ratings, the Audi A4 is below average in all categories except body and interior quality in which it achieves average. The Subaru is average in every category except powertrain quality, and in that category it is above average. Neither car is going to give you Honda or Toyota quality, but the Subaru is a much higher quality car than the Audi.
