I need tips for buying a used subaru?
I’m looking for a used subaru for my first car, I’ve found a few within my price range with higher miles. I know to get a mechanic to check it out adn what not, but any other advice? thanks!
I dont know what your idea of high miles might be, but if the car is getting in the higher mile range i would ask them it the timing belt and water pump have been replaced. Subaru’s are non-interference engines and if the timing belt goes the engine is going to need some work done. make sure that has been done if it has bot been done, get the seller to drop the price the amount of a timing belt change, because it needs to be done.
i would also look under the car for any oil leaks. look on the drivers side where the front wheel axle meets the transmission. look at the oil pan, transmission and rear differential.
take a magnet with you and make sure it sticks to all areas of the car. if it does not then the car may have been in an accident.
what you are doing with the mechanic is great have him run over the car too.
